Valeri Pavlovich Butenko (Russian: Π’Π°Π»Π΅Ρ€ΠΈΠΉ ΠŸΠ°Π²Π»ΠΎΠ²ΠΈΡ‡ Π‘ΡƒΡ‚Π΅Π½ΠΊΠΎ; 16 July 1941 – 13 February 2020) was a Russian Soviet football midfielder and referee and Master of Sports of the USSR, known for having refereed one match in the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. After retiring Butenko served as a game inspector. His younger brother Andrei Butenko also was a referee.
